Painthovedes for :SkylerVane: the race as the rest of the world is invented by Skyler; The graphic interpretation is mine : ]

I intended the scene to show the return of a stallion to the place where mares are (I’m still a bit lost in Scyler world so don’t ask me where that should be and why stallions and mares are separated XD).
I wanted to give the scene some life so there are two young mares whispering about the newcomer and laugh… maybe they consider him to be a showoff – all this standing on 2 legs in the sun ; ] . Mares with youngsters are curies (maybe a bit alarmed –the newcomer might want to hurt their children – a thought that comes through mind of every mother…?). Some are indifferent – as it happens in all herds no meter what the species ; ]

I know you didn’t request this :SkylerVane: but it was such a joy to paint : ]

I wanted to show what I want the mare mains to look like but the painting is a bit too small ; ]; only the blue and white mare can be an example – the red bit of its mane is the middle one while bluish white is on the outside.

I added some black lines after all. I’m not perfectly happy about this painting : / I wonted this to be a pure watercolors but it didn’t work out : [
But I like the style and hope to go back to it in some other work.

I do prefer this version slightly. It has a more "finished" look to it, like I think of for finished illustrations in children's books.

I can explain about "the place where the marns are", if you will raise the point in the "Centriiost" Discussion thread.

I love the tone and varied personalities you have set forth in this work, and how you have breathed so much life into the scene. And the possible explainations of the scene's theme you present are great, something I hope you will always include in your future "Artist's Comments".

The two marns discussing the arrived stal is fitting, though not so much the concern of the marns with foals/colts; young, inexperienced stals intent on mating are very docile and submissive toward all marns. The indifference of many marns is very likely, too. And the idea that the stal might show off at a distance like that is fitting, as he would not dare rear like that if he was much nearer to the marns; it is a mating action - for the stals - and a recognized sign of domination - among the marns.

I may not have requested this, but untill you produce something I really don't like, I hope you will continue to do inspiration works without consulting me first.

The blue and white marn serves as an excellent example, and I can even get the sense of the offcolor line in the mane's of several others.

I liike the added definition of the lining. It makes the work seem more polished. I do understand that you had originally wished to work in only the watercolor medium, though.
